From Aunt Norma's kitchen:


Party Cheese Ball
bullet3 Bunches Scallions, Chopped Finely
bullet2 Small Cans Pitted Black Olives, drained, chopped
bullet3 Sticks Margarine (room temperature)
bullet3 8-oz. pkgs. Cream Cheese (room temperature)
bulletFinely Chopped Walnuts



Mix first four ingredients, chill overnight in refrigerator.

Roll into a ball, roll over walnuts to cover.


Norma's Maca
Macaroni Salad
bullet1 lb. Elbow Macaroni, cooked, drained, rinsed well with cold water, completely drain off water
bullet1 or 2 cans Tiny Shrimp, drain liquid
bullet1 Red Onion, sliced
bullet1 Cucumber, sliced
bulletRadishes, sliced
bullet2 Fresh Tomatoes, cut in wedges
bullet1 can Small Pitted Black Olives, drained
bullet1 can Peas

Add above ingredients to elbow macaroni, stir in Hellman's© Real Mayonnaise, season with salt and pepper
Note: Tiny shrimp are already cleaned

Note: Grape or Cherry Tomatoes may be substituted for Tomato wedges


Norma's Hawa
Chicken Wings
bullet5 lbs Chicken Wings (or Drumsticks)
bullet1 envelope Lipton© Onion Soup Mix (NO water)
bullet1 envelope Lipton© Chicken Noodle Mix (NO water)
bullet1 bottle (8 oz) Wish-Bone© Russian Dressing
bullet1 jar (18oz) Apricot Preserves
Mix well: soup mix, noodle mix, Russian dressing, apricot preserves.

Put Chicken in large bowl. Pour mixture onto chicken. Cover pieces well.

Spread Chicken out in 2 lasagna-size pans (suggestion: use throwaway aluminum foil pans). Bake at 350º for about 45 minutes, then put under broiler for a few minutes to crisp chicken a little.

Sort of messy eating (but SO GOOD). Serve with plenty of Handi-wipes!


Norma's Meat
Meat Wrap-ups
bullet1½ lbs Hamburger
bullet1 envelope Lipton© Onion Soup Mix
bullet1½ cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
bullet2 packages Pillsbury© Refrigerated Crescent Rolls
Brown hamburger in fry pan. Remove from Heat. Drain off liquid. While meat is still hot, add soup mix and cheese. Mix well.

Cut each crescent triangle in half. Put rounded teaspoon of meat mixture on center of triangle. Fold corners over meat (diaper fold).

Put on cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Delicious! Makes 32 wrap-ups.


Norma's Tomato
Tomato Soup Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Tomato Soup Cake


bullet2 cans Condensed Tomato Soup (do not add water)
bullet4 cups Flour
bullet2 cups Granulated Sugar
bullet1 cup Raisins
bullet1 cup Chopped Walnuts
bullet2 tsp Nutmeg
bullet1 tsp Clove
bullet1 tsp Cinnamon
bullet2 tsp Baking Soda
bullet1 stick Margarine (room temperature)

Cream Cheese Frosting


bullet1 package (8 oz) Cream Cheese (room temperature)
bullet1 lb package Confectionary Sugar (sifted)
bullet1 tsp Vanilla Extract
bullet2 Tbsp Milk (approximately)
Mix well. When done, consistency should not be runny. Add a little more sugar to thicken, if necessary.
Preheat oven 350º. Grease and flour 9x13 pan.

Mix until blended: Flour, granulated sugar, raisins, chopped walnuts, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, and baking soda.

Add: Margarine and 2 cans of condensed tomato soup (without added water). Mix well. Batter will be very thick.

Spread into pan and bake 45 minutes. Allow cake to cool, spread with Cream Cheese Frosting.

Very good! Usually served at Thanksgiving or Christmas.


Norma's Frosted
Frosted Walnuts
bullet1½ cups Granulated Sugar
bullet½ cup Sour Cream
bullet1½ tsp Vanilla
bullet16 oz bag Shelled Walnuts
Put Walnuts in large bowl.

Put sugar, vanilla, and sour cream in saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly! Bring to a boil. Continue stirring for 5 minutes more. Remove from heat. Pour hot mixture over walnuts. Mix quickly to cover nuts. Spread out onto cookie sheet to cool. Break into serving pieces.
